Triple your Impact on #GivingTuesday with a Double Match to Call to Action for Youth
The Schenectady Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday with a win-win situation for donors and Schenectady’s youth. The Foundation is offering to triple the impact of every donation received on Giving Tuesday -- November 28th. Every dollar pledged or received will be double matched with $2 by the Foundation. $1 becomes $3. $1,000 becomes $3,000. All funds donated are dedicated to the Call to Action for Schenectady’s Youth up to a maximum match of $250,000.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy. The Call to Action is a multi-year commitment by the Foundation to invest $2.5 million in youth programs focused on mentoring, youth employment and civic engagement.
“We’ve seen remarkable impact thus far in the Call to Action,” said Robert Carreau, executive director of the Foundation. “Over the first 18 months of the initiative we’ve granted $1.8 million, supported 22 programs, and brought dozens of stakeholders together to work collaboratively to improve youth outcomes. On Giving Tuesday we’ll challenge our community to continue the progress we’ve made to date and continue to do more to build positive futures for Schenectady’s kids.”
Programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Capital District YMCA and Working Group on Girls have received the Foundation’s support.
Individuals, businesses or organizations can participate by Donating to Call to Action for youth online on 11/28/17. Donors preferring to mail their contribution or pledge can download the #GivingTuesday pledge form available on the Foundation’s website. Pledges and contributions received with a postmark date no later than December 8th will be credited with the double match.
“We believe the best part of the holiday season is about giving,” said Carreau. “We have seen remarkable outcomes thus far in the Call to Action for Schenectady’s Youth. The matching gift program is intended to resonate with donors who want to see greater impact, and to be game changers for youths in their community.”
