Rosa Rivera Joins TSF Staff
Rosa Rivera has joined The Schenectady Foundation as Program Associate, responsible for grant management and planning and coordinating community collaborations.
Ms. Rivera, a Schenectady native, attended SCCC before earning a B.A. in Philosophy from SUNY Oswego, and an M.A. in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University at Chicago. Although she fell in love with Chicago and believed she could have an impact there, she felt a strong pull to Schenectady, “my own community and home, which seemed to be facing very similar issues as the neighborhoods and people I was working with in Chicago.” She decided to return to Schenectady to do her internship – at TSF -- and to learn more about the organizations making a difference in the community.
“As Program Associate, I hope to set the bar high for intentional, inclusive community building. I wish to maximize our impact by assisting in establishing accountability in neighborhoods of disinvestment and verifying outcomes for the programs we support. Through collaborating with other stakeholders we will learn the best way to invest in the people and the environment we all work and live in.”
