Mona Golub Joins Foundation Board
Mona J. Golub has been appointed to a five-year term on the Board and Distribution Committee of The Schenectady Foundation.
Ms. Golub is a fourth generation member of the Golub family, providing leadership both in the community and to Schenectady’s homegrown supermarket dynasty, Price Chopper/Market 32, where she serves as Vice President of Public Relations and Consumer Services, with oversight for the company’s public/community/government relations, customer communications and philanthropic endeavors. She is the driving force behind many of the unique, personalized partnerships that have earned the company national recognition for its community involvement, customer connectivity and social responsibility.
"As a lifelong Schenectadian, I’m thrilled to join the Board and Distribution Committee of The Schenectady Foundation in advancing the mission of sustaining and improving our community," Ms. Golub said. "Inspired by the vision of the past and encouraged by the teamwork and resiliency of the present, I relish the opportunity to collaborate with others who are engaged in shaping Schenectady’s future.”
Outside of her professional pursuits, Ms. Golub founded Second Wind Productions in 1989 to bring free, world-class concerts to Capital Region parks. Having rallied public and private funding for 30 years in support of hundreds of free outdoor concerts – many of them international in scope - she continues to serve as Artistic Producing Director of Schenectady’s award-winning Music Haven. From 1997-1998, she chaired the task force that raised $1.4 million to build the new Agnes Macdonald Music Haven Stage in Schenectady’s Central Park and continues to fundraise for improvements to the venue, as she expands its programmatic reach to include theater and special events.
For these, and other efforts that benefit our community, Ms. Golub has received numerous accolades, including the city of Schenectady’s highest honor, the Patroon Award, in 2014.
Ms. Golub graduated from Niskayuna High School, where she has since been inducted into Hall of Fame, and received dual Bachelor’s degrees in English and Romance Languages from Bowdoin College. She currently serves on the boards of Discover Schenectady, Proctors Collaborative, WMHT, The Capital Region Chamber Foundation and the Schenectady Foundation.
