Community and Police Basketball League a Win for Everyone
The second year of the Community and Police Basketball League has brought out more officers, more players from the community, and more volunteers. Created to foster positive experiences between the police and community members, the league is coordinated and run by volunteers who are part of Hamilton Hill. “Having the faces of this event be community members and leaders shows people that there is an opportunity, and they can do similar things like this in that park, in the neighborhood, in the community, whether it be a sports program or something else," said Rosa Rivera, speaking to the Daily Gazette. Ms. Rivera is a 24-year-old Hamilton Hill resident who organized the league. She is also a program associate for The Schenectady Foundation, the league’s main sponsor.
